Sophia, a proud Chinese and Georgian, is a passionate Social Media Manager for Dear Asian Youth. She loves the community and being able to celebrate her heritage. Outside of Dear Asian Youth, you can find Sophia watching “Criminal Minds,” playing tennis, or participating in her school’s fine arts clubs.

An avid activist, traveler, and artist, Maiqi is a passionate advocate for intersectional activism — using her voice to empower today’s youth while fighting for issues such as climate justice and sexual violence prevention. Maiqi can often be found daydreaming about traveling the world, thrifting and educating herself on sustainable fashion, or diving into a new novel at her local coffee shop. In the future, Maiqi hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of business and social justice.

Hailing from Ontario with roots in Guangzhou, Tiffany is a DAY illustrator passionate about activism. As a creative, she strives to apply her artistic skills to causes close to her heart. Outside of illustration, you can find her heading her school’s multicultural club, running her card shop, or catching up on her favourite Asian variety shows.

Nicole is a Taiwanese-Vietnamese Asian American who lives in So-Cal and is part of the Dear Asian Youth team as an illustrator! Since joining the DAY team, she has connected deeper with her culture and has loved the DAY community as well as the amazing opportunities it brought. Along with drawing, you can also find her playing Minecraft or calling with her friends!

Born and raised in the Philippines, Eunice is an illustrator for Dear Asian Youth. She joined Dear Asian Youth to amplify the voices of the Asian community and help others develop a deeper appreciation for their home country despite being miles away. Outside of DAY, Eunice is pursuing Human Biology at USC with the hopes of being a physician and someday helping provide access to healthcare for people from underrepresented and underdeveloped communities especially those in the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community.

Andy is an Ilongga student nurse from the Philippines. She loves connecting with people internationally from different backgrounds and has a passion for sparking change through volunteerism and content creation. Her hobbies include watching < 30-second videos on youtube, taking care of her plants, language learning, digital art, dance, and sleeping.

As a Pakistani-Kashmiri American, Shanal is passionate about diverse education and advocacy. She loves playing basketball with her brother, learning about other cultures, and all kinds of flowers! She uses her personal experience growing up South Asian in the United States to help others feel comfortable and safe in their communities. She is super excited to be a part of the Dear Asian Youth team and continue learning about the community!

Always in for a laugh, Laila is a loving Indonesian manager for Dear Asian Youth. Having lived in 3 continents, she always finds a home in the Asian community wherever she goes and is passionate on promoting her culture. Between writing up scripts, she’s either ticking off her film club’s movie bucket list, wheezing over stand-up comedy clips or drawing up comics.

Laurelei is a New Zealand-grown Filipino serving as a social media manager for Dear Asian Youth. Living up to her namesake Rory Gilmore, she writes a bi-weekly column for her university’s magazine as well as creating articles for a few other places floating around the Internet. Outside of her Law and Media Studies degree, she also crochets, skateboards, and scoops ice cream at her part-time job.

‘Isa’ or ‘Isabel is a current Grade 11 student from the Philippines, currently taking up the STEM-allied track. With a burning passion for both Science and writing, Isa has made it her mission to pursue both by working towards becoming an epidemiologist and writer, one day.

A mixed race first-generation Afghan-American, Farial is a writer and intuitive tarot reader, blessed to be born and raised on unceded Chochenyo Ohlone land, AKA the San Francisco Bay Area. Farial is also the co-host of {m}aganda magazine’s IGTV series {m}TV, the Director of Storytelling at the Empowerment Collective, and a writer at Her Culture Magazine. She has a deep love for building community and uses her platforms to help folks not only discover, but own their beautiful identities and creativity. She is a self-proclaimed educator, poet, creator, director, writer, and storyteller. Life path follower #8, represented by the strength card in tarot, she leads her life in hopes of building and uplifting her communities and all the communities she stands alongside.

Born and raised in Florida, USA to Iranian parents, Tala is a social media manager for Dear Asian Youth. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Advertising/Public Relations. She loves being part of an organization that makes her feel valid and accepted, as well as learning more about the Asian community through her work. Aside from writing, you’ll find Tala randomly dancing in her room, eating her usual snack – chips and yogurt, and binge-watching commentary videos on Youtube.

A fourth generation, Japanese American video editor for Dear Asian Youth. She values media as a form of visual communication and its role in social change and justice. You can find her butchering her grandmother’s Japanese recipes, planning her next photoshoot, sipping on boba with her reusable boba straw (shoutout to mother nature), gawking over every item in every Sanrio collaboration ever, and whispering sweet nothings to her plants. It’s her mission to amplify and validate the experiences of BIPOC in an attempt to make our communities feel safe, validated and included.

Coming from a diverse background with one West Asian parent and an Eastern European parent, Ola (also known as Alexandra) is a social media manager for Dear Asian Youth. She loves connecting with her culture and spreading awareness about the struggles of ethnic minorities (such as her own ethnic group) in the Middle East — and other worldwide issues as well! In her free time, she spends time reading historical fiction novels, participating in a multitude of stem and writing clubs, and playing basketball!

Born and raised in Southern California, Isabelle grew up surrounded by a variety of artistic mediums and a supportive community of Asian Americans which inspires her artwork. She is a proud illustrator for Dear Asian Youth and the co-founder of the literacy organization Book Bears! In her free time, Isabelle can be found journaling extensively, making Thai fried rice, or crocheting another of her many cardigans.

She is majoring in Film & TV Production at USC, and focuses on creating media that advocates for important issues relating to her Filipino background. Sophie is Vietnamese-Chinese girl currently living in New Jersey, after having lived in Vancouver, Canada for as long as she could remember. She loves to play tennis and read, when she can. In her free time, you will probably find her binging 1000000 shows at once, playing games (like Roblox) with her friends, or sleeping! With Dear Asian Youth, Sophie hopes to inspire others to not limit themselves to see the world through one perspective, but rather through multiple with an open mind.

Hailing from the Philippines, Claire serves as a social media manager for Dear Asian Youth, where she advocates for issues and causes she is passionate about with like-minded individuals she now considers family. Claire is also an active member of her school’s service clubs, career organizations, and precision rifle team outside of Dear Asian Youth. During her free time, she loves reading, writing, singing, and discovering new music (which usually entails ardent playlist curation).

As an American Born Chinese (Cantonese), Melodie has grown up influenced by many different cultures. She likes to apply this to DAY, where she is an illustrator and chapter lead. When she isn’t busy collaborating with the DAY team on upcoming posts or frantically finishing her schoolwork before 11:59, she is most likely watching K-dramas or browsing her Youtube recommended. Melodie hopes that her work with DAY empowers others to embrace their roots.

From the start it’s been her goal to capture the simple and bizarre elements of the human experience and tell their stories. She’s worked in everything from stage production to commercial work since graduating from film school, and focused extensively in editing documentary and slice-of-life projects, believing that all it takes to learn from our experiences is finding the right way to share them.

When she’s not online or in the science labs conducting research for her Biology undergraduate degree, you can find her making music, making a mess of the kitchen, or dancing (sometimes all at once).

Aside for DAY, Jacky has a deep interest in the world around him, especially on current events and politics.
