Dear Asian Youth
As a Vietnamese-Canadian creative, Annette hopes her work reaches, empowers, and educates fellow BIPOC worldwide to encourage them to embrace their roots and share their stories. Apart from managing the Dear Asian Girl podcast, Annette loves to play video games, watch Youtube videos and create digital art. Annette finds her inspiration for her creative works through the people around her, life experiences and everyday life.
Naina is one of the Dear Asian Girl podcast co-hosts, and she loves having such a great platform to let out her thoughts about the Asian experience. She’s passionate about social justice and mental health as well as sabre fencing.
Alina is a Pakistani-American living in Idaho who is passionate about all things filmmaking, medicine, public health, philosophy, and social justice related. Outside of attending her school, Stanford Online High School, Alina hosts two podcasts, Dear Asian Girl and Colonize This and also runs a youth volunteer organization, Youth Activism Society. Alongside her volunteer and podcast work, Alina is screenwriting a short film set to finish by the end of her high school career. Besides her passion projects, Alina is a competitive sabre fencer for 10+ years.
Melissa is a Chinese American from Columbus, Ohio who hopes to use her voice and personal experiences to empower and uplift other Asian American girls. Apart from being a podcast host, she is a passionate health equity advocate, fierce debater, innovative researcher, and (very) mediocre singer.
Genesis is a 17 year old Filipina-American born and raised in the Windy City Suburbs of Illinois! She is passionate about podcasts and love having open discussions about being Asian American and the adversities that are often overlooked. Besides Dear Asian Girl you will find her reading, writing, singing and eating Trader Joe’s popcorn!
Eryn is a proud Chinese-American adoptee and immigrant raised in New York. She is passionate about podcasts, poetry, plants, art history, and opportunities to connect with her Chinese identity. She loves novelty earrings and pom-pom tailed poodles (hers included, of course), and can be found tucked away outdoors while listening to a good podcast.
Anika is currently in her final year studying BA History in London. She is passionate in the study of Asian history and languages and hopes to work in a field where she can use this knowledge. When not frantically completing assignments, you can find her reading multiple books simultaneously, journaling or diligently working on her Animal Crossing island.
Mei is a queer, Chinese-American adoptee who currently attends college in Portland, Oregon. She is passionate about creating social change through storytelling, conversation, and radical care. She also loves reading, experimenting with digital art, and trying new foods!
Ellie is a Chinese American graduate student researching Asian American community empowerment and positive identity construction. She is excited for the opportunity to research for DAG and create meaningful connections with Asian youth. In her free time, she loves pottery, books, and playing video games with friends.
Kim is a Vietnamese-Canadian from Ottawa who is currently pursuing a career in public history. As a researcher for Dear Asian Girl, she hopes to make knowledge and academia accessible. If she isn’t downing iced coffee and blasting J-metal in preparation for some late-night paper-cramming, you can find her chasing neighbourhood cats, playing volleyball, or watching either kids’ cartoons or absurdist horror movies.
